Good beach in Ganghwado, Incheon

<Dongmak Beach (동막 해수욕장)>

Where you can experience the pearl(mud)

Dongmak beach is located in Ganghwado (Ganghwa island).

Ganghwado is connected to the main land by bridge. So you can get there by car.

There are some beaches in Ganghwado, and among them, Dongmak beach is the most popular and closest beach.

When low tide, you can experience the pearl and catch small crabs or shellfish there. And when high tide, you can also enjoy swimming.

And as it is located in the west cost, you can see the beautiful sunset, and there are many seafood restaurants you can enjoy.

There are many beautiful pensions, but you should make a reservation in advance during Summer season.

We arrived at Dongmak Beach.

There were so many people because it was holiday.

It was not easy to park, but luckily we found a vacant lot.

We prepared our tent and some equipment and went to the rocky area.

Some people came earlier than us.

We built our tent on a flat spot and set the windbreak.

And finally everything is done.

What a good house! lol

Cool wind was blowing,

and it wasn't hot under the shadow!

I went into the pearl,

the sand was so soft that I felt great.

At first I wore shoes but it was tough to walk, so I went into the pearl on barefoot.

These are what I caught in the pearl.

It was so exciting to catch them!!

It's not easy to experience the pearl in Busan,

but Seoul is close from pearl, so many kids often experience this.

I caught crabs by fishing.

Here in Dongmak, people fish not to catch fish but to catch these crabs.

Feeling hungry, I ate this instant food for soldiers.

It was delicious.

I just pour water and waited for 30 min.

It was a little hard but it was quiet delicious.

After eating this, I went into the pearl again to fight crabs!

Next time, I'm going to bring a small shovel and basket.

There were also many people catching shellfish~

But since we didn't have equipment for that, we just caught crabs! ^^

The quality of photos is not good because I took them by my phone.

I put it in the waterproof pack but unlike in the water, the pack was covered with mud.

It was a big deal. lol

I felt my foot were being pulled down.

But it felt great!!

When you see this cute one, catch it quickly.

It runs away very fast.

We caught all these crabs.

They were about 30.

It was so exciting to catch them~~!!

I want to do this again.

I thought that it would be delicious if I fried them...

Everything was good except that the wind was too strong.

The wind was getting stronger in the afternoon~ It was like typhoon.

and...

Out tent.. lol

It broke down!!

We tried to rebuild it,

But one pole was broken by the strong wind~!!

It was so funny. lol

One old man came to help us since his wife told him to do that.

And we said that a pole had been broken, so it's not possible to rebuild it...

It was a so funny situation for me.

It was the tent that J bought that day. lol

We have experienced this kind of situation a lot.

Anyway, we temporarily had to do like this.

People were watching us,

but it was just funny for me. lol

Seeing this again, It's funny again.

We tried in many ways,

and we used a band to rebuild our tent.

It was quiet helpful.

It was getting more crowded as time went by.

The crabs I caught.

Some crabs died in the bottle.

And we released other alive crabs into the pearl again.

I'm sorry.

It was getting cold as the sun set.

I had a wonderful time in Gangwado.

And we left.

Caution: When you play on the pearl, be aware of that you'll completely get wet, and wear song sleeve shirt and pants, or your skin will burn!!

And prepare shoes for playing on the pearl. Normal shoes slip from your foot easily.

There are sharp shells and stones, so you might get hurt.

We also got hurt and bled.

I think you should be well prepared to enjoy the pearl safely.

Jay's Tips!!

"Good place to enjoy the pearl!!"

Tip 1. It's the closest pearl you can visit from Seoul or Incheon.

But it take more then 1 hour from downtown.

Tip 2. It's not easy to get there by bus, so I recommend you to use a private car. Because if you take a bus, it takes about 3 hours.
If you want to use the public bus, call Incheon tourist information center (032-1330). Then they will tell you how to get there. (They can speak English, Chinese, Japanese)

Tip 3. Ganghwado is famous for Ginseng. It's good as a present for your parents or friend.
