Good island to visit in Incheon -'Muuido (Muui island)'

The closest island from Incheon airport

Muuido(무의도) is located very close from Yeongjoungdo(영종도) where Incheon airport is located.

So it only takes about 30 minutes to get to the ferry terminal(잠진도 선착장) from the airport.

Muuido is very peaceful island and it's good island to experience the Korean Island.

Since Muuido is not that big and far away, you can enjoy some beaches and mountains in a day.

Muuido is also famous for the shooting place for movies.

After the election, many people enjoyed their holiday.

Yeongjongdo is located in Jung-gu, Incheon.

If you are planning to take a bus, first, you need to get to Jamjin ferry terminal from Incheon airport and then, board on a ship going to Muuido(무의도).

You can see Yeongjong bridge in the photo below.

I always used to pass by this,

but this time, I visited the Memorial center for Yeongjong bridge.

The view of the pearl was great.

It reminded me of the importance or the pearl.

This is the late post box.

If you send a letter via this, you will get the letter after 1 year.

The red post box and the wind turbines look like a good combination in my photo.

I was going to Muuido but I didn't hurry.

Slowly~ slowly~

That's the Jamjin ferry terminal you can see in the photo below, the one looking like an island.

We arrived there by car since the bridge had been built, but I think it used to be an island in the past, seeing from the ferry.

There were many gulls.

They were trying to catch the snack that people were holding.

I think kids might be scared.

It takes about 5 minutes to get to Muuido.

When the ferry turns its prow, the journey is over.

I was excited to board on a ship but it was too short.

I wanted to go on more. lol

If you drive over a couple of peaks of mountains, you can get to Somuuido.

The mountains were too low to hike but there were many hikers.

This is the restaurant.

They were selling dried fish and other foods.

We also ate row fish(Sashimi) there.

This is the bridge connected to Somuuido.

It's so narrow that a car can't pass this one. You need to walk.

There was a shuttle bus in Muuido. So you can get there by shuttle bus easily.

There are many accommodations like pension or inn.

It's good enough to look around this island in a day, but also good to stay for 2 days.

We could have gone over the mountain, but instead, we decided to walk around the island since it was too hot.

It was great.

I felt so relaxed~, slow~ slow~

We took a rest often, so I was a little worried that I would miss the ferry.

During off-season like winter, the last ferry leaves at 18:30,

but these days at 19:30.

I'm afraid I didn't take a picture of the yacht going through.

It was so peaceful.

You can see the different view of Somuuido at the back side.

This island is connected to Silmido, which is known as the place where Park Jung hee, a former president of Korea, used to have a vacation.

There was a closed school.

The wild flowers were so beautiful.

And also there were two cafes.

They open only for weekends.

The Somuuido ferry terminal is only for the residents.

I asked them to take us to the Muuido ferry terminal by boat, but they refused.

We ran to the ferry terminal not to miss the ferry.

Gulls trying to catch the snack and sunset made a beautiful scenery.

The bridge between Jamjin terminal and Muuido was under construction.

I' sorry that when it's done, we can't board on a ship for a short day trip anymore.

Tip 1. From the Incheon airport, take buses number 222 or 2-1 at the gate 7 on the 3rd floor. It takes about 30 min.

Tip 2. At Jamjin ferry terminal, the ferry leaves every 30 min. The fare is 3000 won for adult and 2100 won for kid. (it's a round trip fare). If you want to get your car on a ferry, it costs 20000 won. (You can check more details on http://www.muuido.co.kr/)

Tip 3. The most popular beach in Muuido is Hanagea beach(하나개 해수욕장).

It's the beach where the famous Korean drama 'Stairs to heaven' was filmed.
