A good island to visit in Incheon - Baengneyongdo (백령도)
The closest island to North Korea with beautiful scenery
Baengnyeongdo Island is famous for an array of attractions including the mighty sea cliffs of Dumujin(두무진), the bean cobbled beach of Kongdol(콩돌해변), the second Presbytarian Church established in Korea, and tasty sea foods. Condol Beach (콩돌 해안)
The land you can see over there is North Korea
I used to think of visiting Baengnyeongdo(백령도).
And finally, I visited there with three friends including a friend who was born there.
We bought tickets last month and It was not easy to get them.
I know that the fare for the islands is always expensive since I like going to the islands.
And I think Baengnyeongdo would be the farthest island in Korea.
The fare for the round ticket is 67,000 won, which is 50% discounted price.
Luckily we didn't need to pay for the accommodation, because we could sleep where my friend works for.
And we prepared some foods.
The ferry departs only 2 times a day and it takes about 4 and a half hours.
You'd better get on board in the morning, so that you can get there in the afternoon and enjoy traveling after having lunch.
When we arrived there, my friend was waiting for us to pick us up with his truck.
We fist took a picture at the Sagot beach which is the only two natural airfield in the world (the other one is Napoli beach) and had lunch .
Sagot beach is 3 Km long and so firm that you can drive a car over there.
As a matter of fact, UN army actually used this beach during Korea war.
I wasn't tired at all. Maybe it was because of fresh water and air.
Rent fare there is expensive. 100,000 won for Sedans and 200,000 won for Vans.
If you take your car to the island, it depends on the weight of your car.
I heard that my friend had to pay 400,000 won for his vehicle whose capacity is 4 people (1 ton).
You don't have to worry about your living there if you are diligent.
But at first, you need to try to get along with residents there.
My friends could get a job there thanks to their friends having been living there.
The old boat for fishing was 50,000,000 won.
Interesting thing was that if the resident build a new house the government supports money worth 40,000,000 won.
We were also able to enjoy fresh seafood caught by my friends.
Coming back home, we stopped near Socheongdo(소청도) since the bladderwort was stuck in something.
At the moment, I was scared, imagining the Sewol-ho (the ferry that sank recently).
Although I was very exhausted, I'm very happy as it was so great trip.
